Turnitin
In Simulise, it is possible to perform a plagiarism check on files submitted within the assignments module. The plagiarism check is carried out by Turnitin.
To use this plagiarism check, there are several requirements:
- A license must be obtained from Turnitin. This license can then be used with us, as well as other suppliers.
- If there is no user agreement between the school and Turnitin, then we are required to request an End User License Agreement (EULA) the first time something is submitted for checking. If the EULA changes, we must request it again.
If you wish to set up the plagiarism check, please indicate this via Servicedesk@simulise.com. Subsequently, arrangements will be made to establish the connection.
Setting up Turnitin Integration
The integration needs to be established by the administrator. The administrator will see a new module in the administration module. Once clicked on this module and then selected settings, the following screen will appear:
- API URL: Here you need to set the unique Turnitin URL of your school. The URL should look like: https://[institution].turnitin.com
- API key: Choose the unique key that corresponds to the URL. How to find the API key can be found here: https://help.turnitin.com/integrity/administrator/api-custom.htm
- Index all: Indicates which files should be checked.
- Source text visible: You can see the original text, if there is plagiarism, where it comes from.
- Match detail visible: You can view basic student information when a file is submitted for checking.
- Anonymous submission: When enabled, the student name and email will not be send to Turnitin, which provides some privacy protection for the student.
Plagiarism Check
If a file is checked for plagiarism, it will be visible within the assignment under the submission. However, administrators can view all plagiarism checks and quickly see where potential plagiarism has been found at a glance.
