Making location

Schools that have multiple campuses (locations) or offer multiple programs at a single location can use the Location module. Locations allow for easier filtering within the Assignments, Lesson Plans, and Rubrics modules.

Creating Locations

In the admin module, the Location module may be visible (displayed directly under Labels), depending on your school's settings. To create a location, follow these steps:

  • Select Locations:
    • If you prefer the module not to be called "Locations" but something like "Programs," you can edit the name directly by clicking on the blue square. Enter the desired name in both Dutch and English.
  • Select Manage Locations.
  • Choose + New Label.

  • Assign a name to the location, for example, '(school name) - (location campus).'
  • If desired, add a description to the location.
  • Link the location to a parent group. A parent group is a group that has at least one or more sub-groups.
  • Next, select which additional labels will be associated with this location.

When locations are linked to a group, the user's location in the underlying group will automatically appear when creating Assignments, Lesson Plans, and Rubrics. This ensures that, for example, an assignment is created specifically for that location. As a result, users will first see all elements created for their location in the above modules without needing to adjust the filter.

Location Options

Once locations have been created, they can be edited or deleted. If a location is deleted, any links made to other modules will be removed. When editing a location, you can change its name and assign it to a different group. By selecting multiple locations and using the 'Bulk' button, the selected locations can be deleted at once.

Functionality of Locations

A location provides an additional filtering option within the Assignments, Lesson Plans, and Rubrics modules. When creating assignments, lesson plans, or rubrics, a location must be specified. The location determines under which filter the assignment, lesson plan, or rubric will be visible.

This allows teachers to quickly see which assignments, lesson plans, or rubrics have been created for their location. However, teachers can still view assignments, lesson plans, or rubrics created by authors from other locations. Therefore, it is helpful to create a filter for your location and save it for easy access.
