My courses
The educational institution can design the courses in Simulise themselves. If the Courses module is visible to you, it means that the school has linked at least one course to you. When you open the Courses module, you will see all courses linked to you:
- If only one course is linked, you will be redirected directly to that course.
- If multiple courses are linked, a table will appear showing all the courses you are associated with.
When you are part of a group that is linked to a course, this course will automatically be added to your Courses module.
In the table, the following information is displayed:
- Name: The name of the course.
- Groups: Which groups are linked to the course. If more than 5 groups are linked, a text will appear saying “5 groups”; click this to view all groups.
Course Administrator(s): Which teachers are administrators of the course. As a course administrator, you can design the course. This includes creating Professional Skills, Aspects, and Portfolio Assignments for this course.
Development Phases: How many steps the diagram consists of. There are a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5.
Aspects: How many aspects are part of the course. The number of aspects corresponds to the number of “slices” in the course diagram.
Portfolio Assignments: How many portfolio assignments have been created within the course.
Blue Square: Clicking this displays several options:
- Edit: Only visible for course administrators.
- Students: View which students are linked to this course.
What does a course look like?
Click on the name of the course to see how it is structured. A course consists of Professional Skills, Aspects, and Portfolio Assignments.
The image above corresponds to what a course administrator sees. If you are not a course administrator, you cannot create anything within the course — you can only view it. Here you will see the following:
- The same information as displayed in the table.
- Preview Diagram: View how the course looks in the form of a diagram.
- Professional Skills with underlying Aspects: The Professional Skills define the colors in the diagram. The underlying Aspects inherit these colors and are displayed in the course diagram.
- Portfolio Assignments with their corresponding Aspects.
As a course administrator, you can design the course from this page. See the help articles below for creating course elements:
- Creating Professional Skills
- Creating Aspects
- Creating Portfolio Assignments
Which students are linked to the course?
When the course is open, you will see a Students tab in the top-right corner. Click this tab to view which students are linked to the course.
Name: The names of the students. Names are displayed in alphabetical order within the group to which they are linked.
Groups: The group through which the student is linked to the course. The table is automatically sorted by group.
Portfolio Assignments to be assessed: The number shown here indicates how many portfolio assignments have been assigned to the student but have not yet been assessed.
- Clicking the number opens a new tab. On this page, you can assess the portfolio assignments.
- Blue square with options:
- Course: Opens a new tab where you can directly view the student’s progress within this course.
- Assess: Opens a new tab that takes you directly to the page where the portfolio assignments can be assessed.
