How do I delete a user?

Who is this for: administrators

As an administrator, you can delete a user. This happens in two steps: first you delete the account, and then you can delete it permanently if needed. This way, you can always undo a mistake.

Delete or delete permanently?

  • Delete: the user can no longer log in. The account is in the recycle bin, so to speak. You can still restore it.
  • Delete permanently: the account is deleted for good. Everything of this user is lost and cannot be recovered.

Important

Does the user come in through the synchronisation with your student information system? Then the synchronisation puts the user back the next day. The student information system is the source: delete or end the user there.

Delete a user

  1. Go to Management and choose Users.
  2. Look up the user.
  3. Click the blue square next to the user and choose Delete.

Do you want to delete or permanently delete several users at once? Tick the users in the list and choose the action for all ticked users at once.

Delete a user permanently

  1. In the list of users, click Filter and turn on the status deleted.
  2. Click the blue square next to the user and choose Delete permanently.

Restore a deleted user

  1. In the list of users, click Filter and turn on the status deleted.
  2. Click the blue square next to the user and choose Restore.

The user can then log in again.

Delete or mark as alumni?

Is a student leaving school, but do you want them to keep using their portfolio? Then mark the user as alumni instead of deleting them.

  • An alumnus can still log in themselves, if a personal email address is linked to the account.
  • An alumnus can access their portfolio, but no longer school items such as assignments.

Students who no longer appear in any group through the synchronisation are marked as alumni automatically. See Why can a user not log in? and How do I handle the year transition without synchronisation?.
