Why is a user or group missing after the synchronisation?
Who is this for: administrators
Does your school have a connection with its student information system (such as Magister or Somtoday)? Then users and groups come into Simulise every night at 02:00 through the synchronisation. The student information system is always the source. If something is missing in Simulise, the cause is almost always in the student information system.
Check first
- Was the change made in the student information system today? Then you will see it in Simulise tomorrow, after the 02:00 synchronisation.
- Look up the user through Management → Users. The overview shows when the user last came in through the synchronisation.
- In the filter, also turn on the statuses deleted and alumni. The user may exist, but with a different status.
A teacher is missing
The synchronisation only includes teachers who are linked to an active class or teaching group. Does a teacher not teach a class and is not linked to any group in the student information system? Then they are not included. Link the teacher to a class in the student information system.
Is a teacher no longer included, for example because they no longer have a group? Then their account gets the status deleted and they can no longer log in.
Good to know
You can restore a deleted teacher account. The teacher can then log in again, and the synchronisation will not delete the account again.
A student is missing
Students are also only included if they are linked to an active class or teaching group in the student information system.
Does a student no longer appear in any group? Then they are marked as alumni in Simulise and no longer appear in the normal list of users. Is that not correct? Link the student to a class again in the student information system. The status then changes back to active automatically.
A class or group is missing
- Classes (base groups) are in Simulise under Groups.
- Teaching groups are under Composite groups.
Is a group missing? Check whether the group is active in the student information system and whether users are linked to it. The group may also have been moved to another parent group; see How do I set up a group structure?.
The user exists but cannot log in
With a synchronisation, all active users get an account, but not all groups may have access to Simulise. Check whether the user's group has access; see How do I use the group overview as an administrator?. For other causes, see Why can a user not log in?.
Important
Do not delete or change users who come in through the synchronisation in Simulise itself: the synchronisation puts them back the next night. Manage them in the student information system. See also How do I manage users via synchronisation (SIS)?.
