Add groups manually

In the left menu, go to Administration. Then go to Groups. You can create new groups by clicking + New group.

Here you enter:
Name [required] – the name of the group.
Parent group [mandatory] – indicates which (main) group this group belongs to. Simulise has a group hierarchy. This means that the complete school structure can be designed in groups up to 6 layers deep.
Searchable – Checking Searchable ensures that this is the highest level searchable by participants in child groups in the Community. Members of this group and all child groups can search/find updates from each other in the community.
Examples:
  • If you want everyone within the faculty to be able to find everything that falls under this faculty during a search, check the box ONLY at the faculty level and not at the underlying (sub)groups.
  • If you want people to only find content of a child group during a search, put a check mark next to the relevant group.
Visible – Checking Visible ensures that this is the highest level that child groups will see in the community stream. Members of this group and all child groups can see updates from each other in the community.
For instance:
  • If you want everyone within the faculty to be able to see everything that falls under this faculty in the community stream, check the box ONLY at the faculty level and not at the underlying (sub)groups.
  • If you want people to only be able to see the content of a child group, put a check mark next to the relevant group.
Students – entering part of the student's name displays a list of students. Choose those students who are in this group.
Teachers – entering part of the teacher's name will display a list of teachers. Choose the teachers who are in this group.
It is now possible to add students and teachers to the groups via an Import.
