Create a aspect
An Aspect is essential for a course. An aspect is part of a Professional Skill and cannot exist independently. Aspects are displayed in the courses circular diagram, using the parent color of the corresponding professional skill.
The terms used below can be modified as desired via the translation module:
- Course (name module)
- Development stages
- Professional skills
- Aspect
- Portfolio assignment
Creating an aspect
- Navigate to the course module.
- Select the course for which you want tot create aspects.
- Click on the table of the professional skill, the + New aspect button will appear below it.

Fill in the following details:
- Name (required): Enter a name for the aspect or work process. The name will be visible to everyone linked to the program.
- Description: Optionally, provide a description of the aspect. This description is only visible to instructors.
- Under Settings, you can configure the following:
- Active: Decide whether the aspect should be active immediately. An active aspect is. visible to everyone who has access to the course.
- Add feedback field: Choose whether to include a feedback field on the aspect’s evaluation page, allowing instructors, students, and assessors to communicate with each other.
- Development phase description: A development phase is a step within the circular diagram. By adding a description, students and instructors can see what is required to achieve that step.
- Assessors: Specify who is allowed to assess the portfolio assignments related to this aspect. The following changes can be made:
- Which assessors are able to evaluate the sub-aspect.
- How many assessors are required before a portfolio assignment is considered completed for the student.
The number of required assessor(s) determines when a portfolio assignment is completed for the student. For example: The sub-aspect has 5 assessors. Out of these, 2 must provide an assessment before the assignment is completed.
- The student receives 2 assessments → The assignment is therefore completed.
- The program administrator decides to change the required number of assessors.
- Requirement is changed to 1 → The student retains both assessments and the assignment remains completed.
- Students who submit the assignment from now on only need 1 assessment.
- Requirement is changed to 3 → The student retains the 2 assessments and the assignment remains completed.
- Students who submit the assignment from now on need 3 assessments.
To ensure that the student complies with the new assessor requirement within a specific portfolio assignment, the previously given assessments must be withdrawn.
- Click Save. When creating the first aspect, you will be asked the following question: "Would you like to apply these assessors to other aspects as well?"
- Only for this aspect: The assessors will only be assigned to this specific aspect. You will be asked the same question again when creating the next aspect.
- All aspects in the course: The assessors will automatically be assigned to all aspects within this course.
- All aspects within the professional skill: The assessors will be assigned to all aspects under the same professional skill.
- Cancel: The aspect will not be saved yet. You can still make changes before saving.
What does the course look like now?

- Portfolio Assignments: From here, you can create portfolio assignments that are linked to this aspect. These assignments will then be displayed in a table.
