How do I return an assignment or change a review?

Who is this for: teachers and other reviewers

Has a student submitted something that is not right, or do you want to change a review you have already given? This article explains the choices you have when finishing an assignment and how to change a review afterwards.

What are my choices when finishing?

When you open a submitted assignment, you choose one of three options:

  • Return Assignment: the student may submit the assignment again, for example because something was not right. The assignment goes back to the student with the status Resubmit. You can give the student their own new deadline.
  • Assign Review: you finish the assignment and give a review. The review on the rubrics becomes final and the student sees the result.
  • Complete without Review: you finish the assignment without giving a review.

Then choose Finish. The student receives a notification with the result.

Good to know

Did the student submit by mistake, and have you not opened the assignment yet? Then the student can withdraw the submission themselves. See How do I submit an assignment?.

How do I change a review?

As a reviewer, you can always change a review.

  1. Open the student's assignment. You can do this through the user search, the group overview or the assignment overview.
  2. You see the assignment with the review. Click Edit Review at the bottom of the page.
  3. Review the assignment again and finish it.
