What is Simulise?
⌄
Simulise is an online portfolio in which students can track the development of their skills in a simple, structured way, reflect on it and keep evidence. They can take the portfolio with them after school and keep using it. It works on any device, any time.
Students who learn to reflect gain insight into their skills and talents and can show who they are. This contributes to their personal development, builds self-confidence and helps them make the right choices for their subjects and further studies.
Get started
- Watch the video to get an impression of Simulise.
- View some example pages with the buttons below:
1
How do I log in?
⌄
Simulise is a secure environment of your school, so you need to log in to use it. Most schools use the login details of Magister or Somtoday. You can use Simulise on your laptop, tablet or smartphone.
Get started
- Go to https://login.simulise.com and search for the name of your school.
- Click Log in with school account.
- Now use your login details from, for example, Magister, Somtoday or Microsoft.
Already logged in to Magister or Somtoday? Then you are logged in to Simulise straight away.
Don't see the option Log in with school account? Then you need a username/email and password, usually sent to you by email. Didn't receive them? Choose Forgot password? You will receive an email at the address you entered.
2
Fill in your profile
⌄
Everyone in Simulise has a profile that shows others who you are.
Your profile contains:
- A photo that is visible wherever you do, post or make something.
- A description you choose yourself. Think of: which subject you teach, your hobbies or areas you know a lot about.
Get started
- Click Start and then Complete profile.
- Upload a photo.
- Add a description about yourself.
Tip
Agree with your colleagues on what you consider an acceptable profile photo. May students use animals or football clubs as their profile photo, or do you prefer a representative photo?
3
Customise your dashboard
⌄
Everyone has a Dashboard in Simulise. The dashboard (click Start in the left menu) shows all important information, such as the latest notifications, the groups (classes) you are linked to, and comments on your portfolio items or community posts. You can set up your start page the way you like by showing or hiding elements, so you see exactly what you want to see.
Get started
- Look at what is on Start.
- Click Customise to turn information tiles on or off.

How do you hand out assignments or lesson plans to your group?
⌄
Students can always add work to their portfolio on their own and keep valuable products or reflections that way. You can structure this process with assignments.
You can use these assignments:
- To have students add work to their portfolio.
- To have students reflect on the skills they used in an assignment or task. They can receive a badge (level) for it.
- To give feedback on the work, from you or from others.
Under Assignments in Simulise there are already many assignments you can hand out to your own class. There may also be a Lesson plan, for example for career guidance. A lesson plan is a series of assignments in a set order. You can hand out lesson plans too.
Get started
- Go to Assignments.
- Look at the assignments. With the filter at the top you can search by theme or skill.
- Go to Lesson plans and look at the lesson plans.
- Found a suitable lesson plan or assignment? Then hand it out (watch the videos).

How do I review submitted work?
⌄
When students submit assignments, you can be notified in four ways:
- Review: the overview of all work you need to review. We recommend using it when you have a lot of submitted work.
- Groups: the Dashboard shows an orange counter with the number of submitted assignments for each group. Click the counter to see the overview and review from there.
- Notification centre: you receive a notification that work has been submitted. Click it to go to the submitted work.
- Email: you receive one when work has been submitted.
Tip
In this video we explain how to change notifications and emails.
Get started
- Click Review in Simulise. Has anything been submitted to you yet? View the submitted work and give feedback if you like.
- Want to know how far a specific class is? Go to Groups, click the group and then click Assignments at the top right. You can also review work this way; watch the video to see how.
- Do you have many assignments that you don't need to check one by one? You can review several at once. Watch the video to see how.
